The school was established in 1985 by lakeshore families who wanted the Montessori method for their children.
In six months they obtained nonprofit status, purchased land, constructed a facility, hired teachers, built furniture and materials, drafted by-laws and policies, and recruited students.

Children's House was designed as a Montessori preschool and kindergarten. The method is based on the theories of Dr. Maria Montessori an Italian physician, educator, and humanitarian.
To Maria Montessori education was a preparation for life, not just an exercise of intellectual skills. Children's House strives to carry out this philosophy. |
