Children's House Montessori

Children's House Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten school year program is open from August to May. Our students are aged between 2 1/2 and 7 years. All programs run Monday through Friday, however parents are welcome to choose 2, 3, 4 or 5 mornings per week for their core program as it suits their family and their child. Two, three and four day programs must be consecutive days. Parents may also choose to send their child for any number of Lunch Bunch days, however since there are only eight places per day, this program runs on a "first come first serve" basis. In addition we offer a 6-week summer program, that runs 5 days a week from 9am till 1pm. For the summer program parents may choose to send their child any number of weeks.

Morning Program 8:30am - 11:30am
This program forms the heart of our school. Children arrive between 8:30am and 8:40am, have a gathering and welcome time and immediately go to “work” on activities of their choice. Older children may have a list of tasks to complete before moving to free choice. At around 10:15am the class heads outside to play. Outdoor time includes gross motor skill development and work in the gardens. Around 10:45am the children return inside for group lesson on nature, music, art, Spanish, science, or history. Snack is available at this time and is a free choice activity. At 11:15am cleanup begins and the children come together once more for storytime and dismissal at 11:30am.

Lunch Bunch Program 11:30am - 1:00pm
The Lunch Bunch program enhances the Montessori community experience by providing a social dining setting and a gentle transition into a longer school day. Children are able to practice grace, courtesy, and manners required for eating and sharing food properly. In addition they participate in clean up and basic self-care skills for independence, for example, teeth brushing. Children bring their own lunch and milk is provided by the school.

Summer Program June 29th - August 7th 2009
Designed for children aged between 3 and 7 years old, this exciting program offers your child a unique environment in which to explore the natural world. Each week the children will be learning about gardening, nature, health, recycling and sustainability through hands-on activities in the classroom and gardens. In addition, each day has a special focus and guest teachers from the community. This program is not just for students of the year-round program.
