Montessori is an educational approach that is based on the child's natural stages of development. The learning process is therefore individualized based on each child's level of ability, learning style and social maturity.

Created by Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952), an Italian physician dedicated to the care of children, who observed that all young children have a natural desire to learn and are able to absorb skills from their environments effortlessly. She set up a classroom environment designed to further stimulate this inborn interest to explore. The room is carefully constructed in a way to allow children to learn by doing rather than watching and memorizing. Each child is recognized as a unique person working at their own pace along their developmental path. This approach celebrates and respects each child as a special one of a kind person with needs and talents specific to them. A Montessori education does not lump children together by some arbritary guideline (for example age). Rather the method is child centered, encouraging each student to release their own potential.

At Children's House Montessori we embrace this idea and create a comfortable, stimulating, child-centered environment that helps your child focus on individual development and fosters respect, independence, self-discipline, confidence, and above all, a love of learning.
“A happy and secure
childhood is the most valuable thing we can give our children."

— Susan Farber, BS Ed.
